Prompt #1-Nursing Preconceptions- Bradley Robinson

There are many preconceptions about the nursing field both positive and negative. The many positives are also the same as the negatives, nurses can be very friendly and helpful, but some have the perception of cold and rude. It all depends on who you ask, different people have had their different experiences with the nursing community.
In the field of nursing people definitely do not show as much respect as what they should, nurses are often scolded or treated bad by patients family. This also comes from the high level of stress a patient and their family is under when in these conditions. Thus leading to the negativity reflected upon nurses in today’s society.  One major preconception people have about the nursing field is that it’s just for females, which is very wrong, male nurses are actually sought our just as much as female nurses when it comes to hiring.

People that are in the field of nursing are a wide range of jobs. From high level doctors and PhD’s to your normal everyday nurse. There is no way to group together what everyone in the nursing field does/says/likes/dislikes because of how broad the demographic. The textbook “Introduction to Nursing Informatics” was not that helpful in explaining the preconceptions of my field, but was more to educate and get a base level of learning towards a degree.

Conclusively the textbook I used was not an effective basic resource unless one is trying to gain a basic understanding for nursing.
